A really good (but pretty long) article on DNS….

June 29th, 2009 by ComputerTraining.com Forum user Suzanne

I can’t stess enough how important DNS is to our whole network.   Losing DNS or a misconfigured DNS is like calling the operator and getting a wrong number.  It’s frustrating and costly!  Stick with this article and see if it helps to make DNS alittle easier to understand.

10 things about working with permissions

June 23rd, 2009 by ComputerTraining.com Forum user Suzanne

This is a little deep for us, but it should help clear up things in regards to Shares and NTFS permissions.  Please remember that we are going to see these again (in a much bigger way).   This is just the first time.  Also, ignore for now, the command line version of these tools.

Please read and comment by Tuesday the 30th.

Good practice working with Disk Management….and alittle something on RAID!

June 17th, 2009 by ComputerTraining.com Forum user Suzanne

Hi there,

I thought I’d use your first blog for a review of some of the material we worked with last night.  Disk Management!  Everything in this link is pretty basic, but it’s a good review of how to use this tool.  Please read through it and comment on something that you learned.   Or add something that your fellow students might find interesting!  Also included is a link to a good article on RAID.  Hopefully it helps to reinforce some of what we talked about on Tuesday night.

PS.  This comment is due by next Tuesday and should be either something you just learned (to help your fellow students) or a summary (in your own words) of why we use these tools or products.  Have fun!

Another set of really awesome interview questions…

May 26th, 2009 by ComputerTraining.com Forum user Suzanne

It’s a great idea to have as much practice as possible with interview questions.  Give this next set a try.  Most of the PC questions will require alittle ‘googling’ or some other form of research, but it’s definately worth it!!!

A fairly long (but good) article on AD and AD Objects…

May 18th, 2009 by ComputerTraining.com Forum user Suzanne

This is a pretty good overview of AD and it’s objects.  Feel free to skip the end of setting permissions on AD objects, but read the rest as if it’s gospel, cause IT IS…..  AD Rules!

PS.  We’ll be covering this in more depth at the end of the 290 stuff.

A VERY good source of interview questions you MAY be required to know….

May 18th, 2009 by ComputerTraining.com Forum user Suzanne

The last few blogs that I post for you guys have to do with interviewing…  Please read these blogs and make sure that you are capable of answering all of these interview questions.   They are very reasonable for a network person to need to know.    This site is written by a very well known and respected individual, Daniel Petri.  His is one of the first sites that I ever bookmarked as a technical reference site.  You may want to do the same.
